Stoichkov's highlight of his career came in 1994, where he led his unfancy Bulgaria to the fourth place in the World Cup. He picked up the topscorer award with 6 goals, along with Oleg Salenko of Russia.

Perhaps the greatest prize Romario received was the 1994 World Cup and its Golden Ball. His strike partnership with Bebeto, and later Ronaldo, were considered among the best in history.
Romario was a natural fox-in-the box, and his positioning and finishing won him topscorer awards in the leagues of Brazil, Holland, Spain, the 1990/1993 Champions League, the 1988 Olympics games, the 1994 World Cup and the 1997 Confederations Cup.

Eccentric and explosive yet talented, Chilavert was a love-hate figure in football. He was the captain of the Paraguayan team who made it to the last 16 in the 1998 World Cup.
Possessing good reflexes and agility, Chilavert was also known for his precise freekicks and penalties. In total, he has scored 62 goals in his career, the best goal tally by a goalkeeper other than Rogerio Ceni.
In his colourful career, Chilavert had a number of high profiled conflicts with other players, such as Faustino Asprilla and Roberto Carlos. Few major clubs would dare to sign him because of his fiery temper, a real disappointment in this great goalkeeper's club career.

He played in three World Cups in 1990, 1994 and 1998, but has only spent a season in Europe for club football, turning out for Spain's Valladolid. Henry is a rare gem in the France national squad, who is traditionally weak in producing world class forwards. As an all-time topscorer for France, Henry's best moments were the triumphs in the 1998 World Cup and the 2000 European Championships.
Plying his trade at Monaco, Henry moved to Juventus without much success. In 1999, he signed for Arsenal, the turning point of his career. Under the guidance of Arsene Wenger, Henry developed into one of the most prolific strikers ever to play in the Premier League.
A move to Barcelona continued to yield success but a handball incident in a crucial 2010 World Cup qualifying match against Ireland created some damages to his reputation. Nevertheless, Henry cemented his legendary status as the only player who has won league titles in France, England and Spain.

An aggressive and controversial player, yet no one doubts Keane's leadership and commitment. His tough tacklings and box-to-box charges were very appreciated by the manager and fans.

The 1990 World Cup was the highlight of his career, where he scored 4 goals to lead Cameroon to the quarterfinals, the best ever result by an African nation. Four years later in the 1994 World Cup, Milla participated as a 42-year-old player and became the old player and scorer in a World Cup tournament.
A late bloomer, Milla's best performance in club football also came much later in France when he was playing for St-Etienne and Montpellier. In total, he scored 68 league goals in 154 games for these two clubs and helped Montpellier promoted to topflight football.

A brief stint at Inter and Bordeaux did not work out well, but Scifo began to find his foot at Auxerre. Further spells at Torino and Monaco produced silverware before Scifo returned to his beloved Anderlecht for another Belgian title.
Scifo was one of the only three Belgians to appear in four World Cups, from 1986 to 1998.
