English Premier League Round 26
The three-horse title race seems to become two-horse after Arsenal slumped to defeats against Manchester United and Chelsea. Liverpool is creeping up behind the Gunners and the gap will be further reduced if Liverpool can get a result at the Emirates Stadium this Wednesday.
Both Manchester United and Chelsea are travelling to tough opponents in the midweek.
The Red Devils visits Aston Villa, who is fighting for a Champions League qualification spot with Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester City. Manchester United crushed Portsmouth 5-0 in the weekend, and will hope Rooney can continue his goalscoring streak.
Chelsea makes a trip to Everton, who lost in the Merseyside derby although they have shown considerable improvement in their recent form. But Everton will have to ponder how to defend a hotshot Drogba.
Italian Serie A Round 24
Inter walloped Cagliari 3-0 to open up a massive eight point gap at the top of the table. In the midweek, they will travel to Parma and is expected to continue their dominance in the Serie A.
Inter will also be playing their second game in four days with another trip to Napoli on Sunday night. Napoli is currently occupying the fourth position and has proved to be a force not to be reckoned with.
AC Milan could not breakdown a Bologna defense as they were held 0-0. They are in danger of slipping down the table unless they can brush off Udinese at the San Siro in the weekend.
Roma laboured to a 1-0 win at Fiorentina which saw them rise to second. They shall have no problems retaining that spot in their next match against Palermo.
Juventus' form showed no improvement as they could only get a 1-1 draw at Livorno. Another loss of points against Genoa, their next opponent, will be harmful in their bid for next season's Champions League qualification.
Spanish La Liga Round 22
Both Barcelona and Real Madrid collected victories over the weekend.
Barcelona beat Getafe despite having two men sent off. Pique and Marquez were red-carded but Messi and Xavi ensured the Catalan giant remains unbeaten. Their next match will be relatively tougher with Atletico Madrid playing at home.
Real Madrid walloped Espanyol 3-0 with goals from Ramos, Kaka and Higuain. Bottom-of-table Xerez shall have no chance in their coming clash as Real Madrid looks to close the gap from Barcelona. The gap is currently maintained at five points.
German Bundesliga Round 22
Leverkusen held on to their unbeaten status in the Bundesliga with a 1-1 draw at Bochum, but they are now on level points with Bayern Munich who clinched a brilliant 3-1 victory at Wolfsburg, last season's German champion.
This weekend is interesting for the two German leaders as Leverkusen now takes on Wolfsburg and Bayern Munich awaits their old foe Borussia Dortmund .
