English Premier League Season 2010/11

 

Liverpool registered their first win of the season by beating humble WBA 1-0 at Anfield this weekend. Fernando Torres scored the winner in the 66th minute.

 

Chelsea made it three out of three with a 2-0 victory over Stoke City. Frank Lampard missed a penalty but Florent Malouda and Didier Drogba made it up for him.

 

Arsenal's Walcott continues his excellent form by netting the opener at Blackburn. The home team equalised by Andrei Arshavin ensured the three points was in the bag for the Gunners. Manchester United keeps up the pressure by crushing West Ham 3-0 at Old Trafford. Wayne Rooney ended his goal drought with a successful penalty before Nani and Dimitar Berbatov completed the rout.

Spanish La Liga Season 2010/11

 

Barcelona's Lionel Messi is the hero once more as he scored a hattrick in the 4-0 Spanish Super Cup second leg victory to help his club lift their first trophy of the season. Sevilla has led 3-1 in the first leg, but was always the second best team at the Nou Camp.

 

The Spanish league has started on the 28th August. Barcelona displayed their lethal offense with three goals without reply at Racing Santander, with Messi, Andres Iniesta and David Villa netting each.

 

Real Madrid rued missed chances after being held to a goalless draw at Mallorca. Things were made worse after Cristiano Ronaldo limped off in the game.

Italy Serie A Season 2010/11

 

Inter Milan's new manager Rafael Benitez receives his first trophy with the club after his team made a comeback with a 3-1 win in the Italian Supercoppa. Roma scored early in the game but Goran Pandev equalised before the break. Samuel Eto'o late brace ensured Inter continue its winning way.

 

The Italy Serie A has kicked off on the 28th of August 2010.

 

Roma dropped points in their opening game as they were held to a goalless draw by Serie A new boy Cesena at the Italian capital.

 

Juventus seems unable to get out of their last season's slump after falling to a shock 1-0 defeat at Bari, but AC Milan walloped Leece 4-0 at San Siro. Brazilian wonderkid Pato scored a brace, with new signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic watching at the stands.

 

Defending champion Inter Milan, under the charge of new manager Rafael Benitez, travels to Bologna on Monday night .

German Bundesliga I Season 2010/11

 

It was a peculiar weekend at the German Bundesliga as all top three teams of last season left victims to their opponents.

 

Bayern Munich dropped their first points of the new season after being shocked by Kaiserlautern in a 2-0 defeat. Likewise, Schalke04 was shocked by Hannover, losing 2-1 at home.

 

Leverkusen was on the wrong end of a thrilling 6-3 match against Monchengladbach. German captain Michael Ballack looked to be a frustrated figure in the game.

 

Mainz had an amazing 4-3 comeback at Wolfsburg. Goals from Edin Dzeko and Diego helped Wolfsburg race to a 3-0 lead by the 30th minute, but Mainz never gave up. They equalised by the half hour mark and scored the winner with five minutes left in the game, stunning the host and fans.

 

UEFA Super Cup 2010/11

 

Last season's Champions League winner Inter Milan lost 2-0 to the Europa League champion Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup. Winger Jose Reyes opened the scoring at the half hour mark before Kun Aguero wrapped up the victory. This is the first time Atletico Madrid wins this prestigious trophy, which started in 1972.
